LEIGHTON TWP., MI (WHTC) – State Police say that a 50-year-old Wayland man died on Wednesday afternoon when his westbound vehicle on 142nd Avenue, north of his hometown, went past Kalamazoo Avenue, crossed the center line, and plowed into an eastbound pick up. Francisco Medina was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allegan County Medical Examiner’s Office. The pickup driver, 57-year-old Keith Salas, also of Wayland, was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
