DETROIT, MI (WHTC) – Members of the National Action Network civil rights organization will meet with General Motors officials about the automaker’s sponsorship of Kid Rock’s tour.
The group is asking the rock and rap star to stop using the Confederate battle flag on stage. So far, Rock has refused to do so.
Although GM has reiterated its sponsorship of the 44-year-old’s performances, they will meet with activists tomorrow. Kid Rock has said he will use whatever flag he chooses during his tour.
Members of the National Action Network also issued a public plea for Kid Rock to denounce the rebel flag in a press conference earlier this month outside of the Detroit Historical Museum. Kid Rock has ten shows schuduled at DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston Michigan starting August 7.
