LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Michigan Petroleum Pipeline Task Force Report, released today, called for an immediate ban on transporting tar sands and heavy crude oil through pipelines under the Straits of Mackinac, along with mandating full insurance coverage liability, an assessment of options to the pipelines, disclosure of pipeline safety reports by operator Enbridge, and establishing a public advisory board on pipeline safety. The 13 recommendations in the report will now be forwarded to state leaders in Lansing.
