LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Time to Care Coalition plans to launch a petition drive aimed at either forcing state lawmakers to approve guaranteed paid sick leave legislation or have a measure put before voters on the November 8, 2016 ballot. Proponents claim that more than 1.5 million workers in Michigan are unable to take time off for illness. Opponents counter that this issue should be left up to individual businesses. Groups involved in this effort include those who pushed to raise the state’s minimum wage last year.
