WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO) — Here is something you don’t see everyday, consensus in Congress. Fred Upton’s “21st Century Cures Act” has been approved by the United States House of Representatives by a bipartisan vote of 344-77.
The bills deregulate medical research to streamline the approval process for new medicines and devices. It also pumps new money into the effort to find cures for the diseases that still plague mankind.
Upton has been conducting hearings all over the country, including one in at the new WMU Homer Stryker School for Medicine, to gather input on how they can get the regulatory and approval process up to speed with advances in research.
It now goes to the U.S. Senate for their consideration.
