DETROIT (WKZO) — Anibal Sanchez went from carrying a no-hitter through seven innings to needing a save as the Tigers held off the Blue Jays, 8-6, at Comerica Park
. Sanchez had a no-hitter through seven-and-a-third before Ezequiel Carrera notched a single to start a six-run rally for the Blue Jays.
Sanchez earned the win with seven-and-a-third innings pitched, giving up three hits and four runs while Joakim Soria notched the save.
J.D. Martinez plated two runs for Detroit. Miguel Cabrera laced an RBI-single in the first before leaving with a left calf strain in the fourth.
Dioner Navarro capped the Toronto rally with a three-run double in the bottom of the eighth.
Drew Hutchinson gave up 10 hits and five earned runs to fall to 8-and-2.
The Tigers and Toronto’s next game is at 1p.m. on the 4th of July.
