NILES (WKZO) — The condition of a 2-1/2 year-old found unresponsive after falling into a family swimming pool in Niles has been released.
Berrien County Deputies say that the toddler, Marcus Criglear is listed in Critical Condition at South Bend Memorial.
The child had been with his mother, visiting the grandparents in Niles Township.
She was mowing their lawn and needed gasoline, leaving the toddler in the care of her grandparents.
Somehow the child got into the their pool and was rescued just before 8pm.
CPR was begun, and they were able to revive him, but he isn’t out of the woods yet, not until the can also determine whether they were able to avoid brain damage.
