KALAMAZOO (WKZO)– The Growlers will be staying in Kalamazoo this weekend and so will their fireworks show.
A diligent effort by the crew at Homer Stryker Field and a couple of very big pumps have bailed out the ball field and it will be ready to go when the ump cries “PLAY BALL!” on Friday.
They thought it looked hopeless on Saturday when the river rose and the field was flooded by two feet of water.
But between Mother Nature and those pumps, almost all of the water is gone.
They plan to do a lot of power washing between now and Friday when they will be playing the first of two double-headers to make up for last weekend’s lost games.
Their contingency plan was to move to C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek for the weekend. The Bombers are on the road for the 4th of July.
