LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A nine-bill road funding package will be on the state Senate floor for consideration on Wednesday after the Government Operations Committee cleared the legislation on party lines. The Upper Chamber wants to raise the gas tax by five-cent increments three times before the end of 2017, while eliminating the state’s Earned Income Tax Credit and putting in place incremental cuts to the state income tax, beginning in 2018. The House approved a different road funding package in mid-June.
