KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A Kalamazoo couple can thank some early morning risers for saving their lives.
Repair work began within hours of a residential fire early Wednesday at a home on Oakland Drive near the entrance to Woods Lake Beach.
The fire resulted in extensive smoke and water damage to the home of an elderly couple.
They were rousted out of their beds by passersby who were first to notice the smoke rising from the home in the 2800 block of Oakland.
The most extensive damage was done to the garage. That’s where it’s believed the fire started.
The occupants were insured.
