DETROIT (WHTC) – State Senator Morris Hood III (D-Detroit) told MIRS News that he’s presenting a resolution asking the US Treasury Department to make civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks the new face of the 10-dollar bill. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew wants a female on the bill by 2020, in connection with the centennial of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Parks moved to Detroit after her 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott that many historians say started the nation’s civil rights movement.
