LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Negotiations are underway between leaders in the Michigan House, Senate and Governor Snyder’s administration on a road funding package. House Speaker Kevin Cotter says while his chamber has passed a plan, it’s far from being a done deal. The House plan relies heavily on future revenues coming into the state to pay for road repairs. Leaders in the Senate have yet to reveal their plan, which is still being developed through the summer.
Lawmakers had to go back to the drawing board to come up with the one-point-two billion dollars a year sought by Governor Snyder after voters soundly defeated Proposal 1 in May. Cotter says lawmakers understand the need to get a road repair funding package approved soon.
