ALLEGAN (WKZO) — The Allegan County teen who killed his 21-year-old cousin and tried to rape her is headed to prison for 40 to 60 years.
Joshua Keyzer was 15 at the time and is now 16-years-old, and at his sentencing Monday Karen Louwenaar called what he did to her daughter pure evil.
She was found in a pool of blood with deep lacerations and her clothes nearly cut off, with the words “My Bad” written in blood on the wall, and Joshua’s foot prints leaving the room.
He was found on the roof of the home covered in blood. He was tazed and taken into custody when he jumped into a bush and tried to escape.
Louwenaar went on to say the “love, peace and security” the family enjoyed is gone forever, stolen by someone they loved. In addition to killing Kassandra Keyzer, Joshua Keyzer was accused of stabbing his grandmother several times.
She survived the attack and called 911, but succumbed to cancer in December.
He took the deal, eventhough its for a very long time because there was a pretty good bet that if his case went to trial, he would wind up with life without parole.
