New York, New York (WKZO) — J.D. Martinez single handedly destroyed Yankees pitching and kept his eyes on the ball hitting a run home run in the 1st helping Detroit jump out to 4-0 lead. Then in the 5th hit the first pitch he saw to deep center for a solo home run giving Detroit a 7-2 lead. And finally he was part of that explosive 6th inning for the Tigers Blasting a 3 run moon shot to right, Detroit scored 5 runs in the inning and the Tigers routed the Yankees 12-4. Only runs for the Yankees came in the 2nd off a solo home run by Brian McCann and a RBI single to center by Brendan Ryan and in the 7th and 9th when Stephen Drew went deep to right one was a upper deck shot. Detroit’s Anibal Sanchez improved his record to 6-7 on the season lasting 7 solid innings giving up just 3 runs with 5 K’s while New York’s Masahiro record falls to 4-3 going 5 innings allowing 5 runs with 6 K’s.
