DETROIT (WKZO) — At least one person is dead and nine others have been hospitalized after shots rang out at a block party in Detroit Saturday night. The party was billed as a family friendly event with barbecue, basketball and other activities for the kids.
Detroit Police Assistant Chief Steve Dolunt says there were a lot of children at the party and none were shot he is calling that a miracle.
Around 400 people were on hand and with all those potential witnesses he says he’s beyond frustrated by the lack of cooperation. While authorities say they don’t know the reason for the shooting, they believe one person may have been the target and the others just got in the way.
Dolunt says most of those who were shot likely had no connection to the shooter, or shooters.
