KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller is warning boaters to slow it down on inland lakes in the county, particularly ones that are at high levels because of all the rain we have been having lately.
Their wakes can cause significant problems to property owners on shore.
He has already heard from homeowners on Indian Lake in Pavilion Township who say water levels continue to creep up near homes.
Fuller also says that it’s in the boaters own interest to slow down because they don’t know what may be in the water.
Docks may be lurking just under the surface or floated away from shore. There could be branches or
other object in the water.Fuller says they are calling for voluntary compliance but will be enforcing no wake speeds near shorelines with their marine patrols until water levels drop.
