Another Road-Funding Proposal Surfaces in State House

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A four-bill road-funding package was introduced in the state House that increases the diesel tax and the gasoline tax to a minimum of 23 cents each on October 1^st, and connecting these levies with the wholesale price up to 30 cents per gallon afterward. Vehicle registration fees would also go up by 100 dollars per vehicle. Sponsors who claim this would pay off existing debt and free up funds for infrastructure improvements. This package of bills is separate from the one billion-dollar initiative the House already approved that was backed by Speaker Kevin Cotter (R-Mt. Clemens)
