DETROIT (WKZO)- Detroit Tigers starting pitcher David Price (6-2) was on his game tonight and so was the Tigers defesne. Price threw a complete game, seven hit shutout as the Tigers blanked the Cleveland Indians 4-0. Price needed only 93 pitches to put the Indians away and he recorded eight stikeouts in tonight’s win.
The Tigers defense also helped Price out as they recorded four double plays.
First baseman Miguel Cabrera powered the offense for the Tigers. Cabrera lauched a monster, three run home run in the sixth inning off of Indians starting pitcher Danny Salazar (6-2) over the center field wall into the camera well to put the Tigers up 3-0.
Cabera also drove home a run in the eighth inning with a double to push the Tigers lead to 4-0.
Cabrea now has 13 home runs and 43 RBIs for the season.
The Tigers will look for another win Saturday in Justin Verlander’s season debut. The Indians will counter with Carlos Carrasco (7-5 4.35 ERA). Broadcast time is at 3:40 pm on AM 590 WKZO.
