KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The Kalamazoo School Board has received a presentation on their next school budget.
Finance Director Gary Start says if voters had not approved money for special education this spring, it would have been a much more painful process.
The extra voted millage will pump between $4 and $5-million more into the budget, which is much more than the $1.6-million increase in per-pupil funding they are getting from the state.
The $135-million dollar spending plan has to be submitted to the State by July 1st.
The Board is scheduled to take a vote on the proposed budget at their meeting on June 25th.
