LANSING (WKZO) The State Board of Canvassers has approved the language on two different and competing petitions to make marijuana legal for recreational use.
Approval gives sponsors the green light to begin collecting signatures, and there could be a third petition, and possibly a fourth before its all over.
They all differ in how to regulate how the drug is distributed and taxed, how much people would be allowed to grow at home and how the resulting tax revenue would be spent.
If all three get the quarter million signatures required, the one that got the most votes at the poll in November of next year, would be the one that would take effect.
That’s assuming they pass, and the legislature doesn’t decide to intervene and keep control of the process.
