LANSING (WKZO) — The Michigan State Senate approved a bill sponsored by Lawton Republican Tonya Schuitmaker that would create a “Blue Alert”.
It would do for police what the Amber Alert has done for missing kids…spread the word that a police officer has been attacked or killed, and the suspect is on the loose. It would disseminate information to radio, television and other news outlets.
It would rapidly disseminate information about an offender across television, radio and other media. It would be a big change from what currently happens and it will be interesting to see if law enforcement embraces the idea.
