LANSING (WKZO) — The State of Michigan will be committing half a million dollars to Michigan Universities to develop ways to reduce sexual assaults on their campuses.
Right now many programs are reactive. They want to work with college age students to prevent them from happening in the first place.
That may be the big news to come out of a summit on campus sexual assaults held in Lansing yesterday, hosted by first lady Sue Snyder.
Snyder says she has a personal interest because her own daughter headed off to the University of Michigan last fall.
The summit included a panel with female lawmakers and presentations by several women who have been victims of campus sex assaults.
