KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The driver who shot through the stop sign at Barney and Nichols on Sunday, careened off a boulder and flew through the front door of a home has a history with local police agencies.
It’s the third time Steven Dontrail Stevenson-Smith has fled from police and gotten caught.
He has a suspended license and had no business being behind the wheel.
The home also has a history. It’s the seventh time the structure has been hit by wayward cars. Township Sgt. Scott Jackson says they put boulders on the front lawn to stop cars, and when they didn’t work, they brought in bigger boulders and they also failed on Sunday.
Stevenson-Smith was also charged with resisting arrest for fleeing the scene after the crash. He could get up to 5-years if convicted this time.
