LANSING (WKZO) — The Commission overseeing the 6.4-million dollar restoration of the State Capitol has decided to prohibit weddings in the building.
They say such events took public areas like the Capitol Rotunda out of circulation, and posed damage risks to the building’s extensive restoration work.
That may not sit well with some who say the public is paying for the renovations and should be able to make use of the facility.
Senators Curtis Hertel and Steve Bieda have asked them to reconsider, saying some have already booked the spaces.
There was no mention of the fact that for the next year, if the Supreme Court rules as expected later this month the majority of weddings in Michigan will be gay weddings.
