KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — Kalamazoo Township Police are looking for the not-too-clever vandals who attacked several homes with toilet paper, leaving behind graffiti chalked on sidewalks and driveways that may qualify as a hate crime.
It happened on Mandarin Grove Lane, a relatively new and very neat neighborhood on the northern edge of Kalamazoo Township.
Not the kind of place you would expect to see swastikas and other symbols drawn on the sidewalk in front of a Jewish woman’s home and racist language used at the home of a black police officer.H
omeowner Carrie Richman says they believe its teens from the neighborhood, and she says they won’t tolerate it.
It was a clumsy attempt at vandalism. It was done in chalk on cement, the Swastika was backwards and all of it was quickly washed off with water.
About 30 mailboxes were smashed and toilet paper thrown into the trees and shrubbery. They suspect it happened around midnight Wednesday morning.
