DETROIT (WKZO)- The Detroit Tigers have been swept by the Oakland Athletics falling to them this afternoon 7-5. For the second straight day the Tigers fell behind the Athletics 3-0 after the second inning.
The Tigers tried to make a comeback as they scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, including a Tyler Collins three-run home run to cut the score to 7-5, but in the end it wasn’t enough.
Tigers starting pitcher Shane Greene (4-5) pitched 4.1 innings giving up four runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out two.
The Tigers now have lost seven straight games. The last time the Tigers lost seven in a row was back in 2011 when the Tigers went on to win 95 games.
The Tigers will try to right the ship on the road in the windy city against the Chicago White Sox. Game one of the series is Friday and Kyle Ryan (1-0 3.00 ERA) will get the start for the Tigers while Jose Quintana (2-6 4.33 ERA) will take the mound for the White Sox.
