KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — It looks like Woods Lake Beach could be out of commission for most of a second summer because of problems with the bidding for the reconstruction of the facility.
The City closed the beach last year anticipating it would be under construction but none of the bids for the work came in low enough to match their budget.
They have rebid the project for this season, but first they had to redesign and scale back the plans.
Parks and Recreation officials say they plan to open the beach until construction begins, but they could have to close it again in a month when the work gets underway.
That’s presuming they get a bid they can afford.
Stay tuned this story could be changing.
