CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO) — Speed and bad luck appear to be main causes of a triple fatality in Calhoun County over the Memorial Day weekend.
Information from the black box in the SUV that was driven by the “at-fault” driver suggests that the 16-year-old may have been going over 100-MPH when his car went out of control, crossed the median and struck a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.
It happened along the only stretch of the Interstate in Calhoun County, where there are no cable guardrails. The would have likely prevented the SUV from straying over into the opposite lane.
Another 16-year-old and two sisters in their 70’s were killed and four others remain hospitalized, in stable condition, including the teen driver.
