LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The state Board of Canvassers has started a 180-day clock for Protecting Michigan Taxpayers to collect over 252,000 valid petition signatures by approving the petition language. If successful, it would compel the Legislature to either repeal the state’s Prevailing Wage Law or put the matter to the voters next year. It’s a similar tactic used two years ago to force Lansing into raising the minimum wage.
A marijuana legalization petition request by the Michigan Cannabis Coalition was withdrawn.
