KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A fire in the 1800 block of Portage Road in Kalamazoo caused substantial damage to a home Saturday afternoon.
Kalamazoo Public Safety got the dispatch right around 2 p.m. and found flames coming from the rear of the home as they arrived minutes later.
It took them about 20 minutes to knock down the fire.
The occupant was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The fire marshall says it appears to be accidental, but they will carry out an investigation.
