OTTAWA COUNTY (WKZO) — New charges have been filed against a wanted man from Holland who got drunk and caused a fatal crash in Ottawa County.
They say the 46-year old driver who caused the crash had been drinking, strayed off the driving surface on I-196 at 32nd Avenue and slammed into the back of a vehicle that had suffered a flat tire.
The driver of that parked car, 64-year-old Bernard Langmeyer of Deerfield was killed and his 59-year-old wife, Debra was seriously injured.
The impact of the crash forced both vehicles to bounce off the guardrail and back into the traffic lane where the Tahoe was struck by a third vehicle containing a couple from Wisconsin.
They suffered minor injuries.
The Driver who caused the crash was not injured but was arrested on the spot for outstanding warrants.
He has since been charged with driving drunk causing death, a 15-year-felony, and he could face additional charges.
His name was not released pending arraignment.
