LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Minority Democrats in the state House are calling on that chamber’s Oversight and Ethics Committee to look into the Senate’s purchase of new office space in downtown Lansing. Caucus leader Tim Grimel (D-Auburn Hills) claims that there was a lack of due diligence around the initial decision to buy space in the Capitol View building, and that Democrats are pursuing a package of bills to prevent a similar situation from occurring again. Committee Chairman Ed McBroom (R-Vulcan) told MIRS News that he would consider the Democrats’ request. Senate leaders say that their new offices should be ready next year.
