LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The state House approved on a five-vote margin a bill that would prohibit local ordinances involving business-employee relationships that exceed state or federal standards, such as wages and furloughs. Trade groups are pushing for statewide uniformity, while local government groups say that this is more of a sovereignty issue and an overreach by Lansing. A similar proposal stalled in the Legislature last year. The measure now goes to the Senate.
