SAULT STE MARIE, MI (WHTC) – A former Aramark supervisor at the state’s Kinross Correctional Facility in the Upper Peninsula has been charged with a felony solicitation count. Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office claims that 27-year-old Michael Young of Kincheloe tried bribing an inmate last year with “tobacco products” to recruit another inmate and beat up a third inmate serving a sentence for murdering one of Young’s relatives. Young is currently held on 50 thousand dollars bond.
It’s the latest black mark against Aramark, who had won a three-year food service contract with the state for serving inmates in December of 2013, but has had numerous issues involving service and employees since. Aramark is also the retained food service provider for Grand Valley State University’s campuses.
