DETROIT (WHTC) – In a “Special Message to the Legislature on Criminal Justice” issued Monday, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is asking state lawmakers to take up a new reform package centering on preparing inmates for reentry into society, addressing the root causes of criminal behavior, and improving the juvenile justice system.
His statement also included changes to better protect crime victims and improving law enforcement through initiatives such as a Michigan State Police Cadet Program and community partnerships.
Snyder unveiled the letter during a visit to Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit.
