LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The state Department of Corrections has a new director. Heidi Washington was named by Governor Snyder to replace Dan Heyns, who leaves his post after four years on June 30th, but will continue with the Council on Law Enforcement and Reinvention, along with helping to coordinate statewide criminal justice strategy. Washington comes from being the warden at the inmate processing center in Jackson, and has 17 years of experience in the department.
