DETROIT, MI (WHTC) – Triple A Travel says over 37-million people will be hitting the road over Memorial Day Weekend.
In Michigan, over one-million residents will travel more than 50 miles for the holiday. Officials say the national figure will be the highest number of travelers since 2005 for the unofficial start of summer.
The increase is being atttributed to the lowest gasoline prices in the past five years.
The national average is right around two-dollars-66-cents a gallon while in Michigan the average gas price is at two-62-per gallon.
