WINDSOR, ONTARIO (WKZO)– The New International Trade Crossing has a new name.
It will be named after one of the biggest things that Canada and Detroit has shared up until now, and that’s Detroit Red Wing star Gordie Howe.
Howe was born in Canada and played for Detroit from 1946 to 1971.
MIRS NEWS reports that Gov. Rick Snyder and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper made the announcement early this afternoon in Windsor.
The goal is to open the bridge to traffic by 2020. Howe is considered one of the greatest hockey players of all time.
It will be called the Gordie Howe International Crossing.
