DETROIT, MI (WHTC) – Governor Snyder and Canadian Prime Minister Harper announced that the new bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor will be named the Gordie Howe International Bridge after the legendary Detroit Red Wings hockey hero. The 2.1 billion-dollar span would ease congestion on the existing Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, and should be in place by 2020, with Canada picking up most of the up-front bridge construction and customs plazas costs in exchange for toll revenues.
