DETROIT (WKZO) — Saying Senator Virgil Smith’s alleged actions “cannot and will not be tolerated”, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has expanded the list of charges the lawmaker now faces.
He has been formally charged with felonious assault, malicious destruction of property over 20-thousand dollars, domestic violence and felony firearm.
Worthy says all this erupted when Smith’s ex-wife caught him with another woman Sunday, punches were thrown, and she claims he blasted away at her fleeing Mercedes with a shotgun multiple times.
He has been stripped of all his committee assignments and party posts in Lansing and may face expulsion from the Senate if convicted.
He is free on 25-thousand dollars bond.
