LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A joint state House-Senate conference committee will meet to iron out differences in general fund and education omnibus bills that cleared both chambers in the past two weeks. The Senate took into account an expected Proposal 1 defeat when it passed its two “buses.” Leaders in both chambers say that, while the mandate to repair Michigan’s roads is still a priority, the emphasis will continue to be on a long-term solution instead of putting temporary, stop-gap measures in this spending plan. Lawmakers are seeking to get a final Fiscal 2016 state financial blueprint onto the Governor’s desk by the end of next month.
