KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Read set go. The Borgess Run for the Health of It got off to a perfect start in near perfect conditions, maybe even a little warmer than some runners might like.
The event at its height made getting around town difficult, but there isn’t alot of traffic early on a Sunday morning, before anything opens anyway.
Each year the event gets a little bigger, attracting more runners, and more of the top shelf runners who have sponsors and run these races for a living.
There were a couple of runner in today’s race who had just won marathons on Saturday.
Results:
Men’s Marathon
Bobby Longnecker of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Cal Ramm of Arnold Md. and Alex White of Washington, Michigan finished first, second and third in the Marathon. WInning time was 2:41:07.
It was a productive weekend for Longnecker who also won the Wisconsin Marthon Saturday.
Women’s Marathon
Gwen Frederickson, Saline, The winning time 3:19:11. Rosa Haag of Kalamazoo came in second and Valerie Petrie of Holland finished third.
Half Marathon
Nicholas Stanko of Ann Arbor won the men’s Half-marathon. The winning time was 1:09:49
Cindy Huntinton of Portage won the women’s half marathon with a winning time of 1:31:49
