LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The state Senate Education Committee endorsed legislation that establishes new benchmarks for local teachers and administrators in Michigan. It mandates, beginning in the 2019 academic year, that 40 percent of an instructor’s evaluation be based on how much that teacher’s students improve, based on local criteria, with the rest coming on criteria set by the local district. Some lawmakers want 14.8 million dollars for teacher training put back into the bill when the full Senate considers it.
