After getting shelled in his last start by the New York Yankees, David Price buckeld down and found his rhythm against the Minnesota Twins leading the Detroit Tigers to a 5-4 victory on Monday night at Target Field.
Price worked 6.1 innings and allowed six hits while striking out seven Minnesota batters on his way to earning his second victory of the young season.
Jose Iglesias had three hits, and was a double away from the cycle. He hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Two hits and three Yoenis Cespedes RBI also helped push the Tigers to a five run evening against Minnesota pitchers.
With a narrow lead late in the game, the Tigers’ hopes rested on their relievers. Alex Wilson and Joba Chamberlain worked the game to Joakim Soria, who registered his 8th save of the season in the ninth inning.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow, with coverage beginning at 7:40 on AM 590 WKZO.
