DETROIT (WHTC) – Fox Sports Detroit officials say that they will welcome Kirk Gibson back to the Detroit Tigers cablecast booth “as his health permits” after the 57-year-old football and baseball great disclosed that he is stricken with Parkinson’s disease. No word as to how long he has been afflicted, although some observers noted that he was moving noticeably slower during his final season managing the Arizona Diamondbacks last summer. Gibson, who starred in football at Michigan State and was a World Series hero with both the Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers, hasn’t appeared on a Fox Sports telecast since Opening Day.
