LANSING, MI (WHTC) – As the future of the Healthy Michigan expanded Medicaid program hinges on another federal waiver from Affordable Care Act mandates, the associate director of the Senate Fiscal Agency claims that annual costs could begin exceeding annual savings as early as 2019. State officials initially said that putting away a portion of General Fund savings would cover such costs through 2035, but such actions haven’t been done thus far. If a second waiver isn’t obtained, the program will end next April.
