PORTAGE (WKZO) — A roofing contractor may have trouble convincing Zoetis to ever hire them again after they completed roof repairs on their plant on Portage Road but set the place on fire.
Portage Dispatch got a call from plant employees about smoke but could not find the fire.
Fire crews tracked it to an area of the roof near a hatch.
They quickly put it out. They noticed that part of the roof was new, and when they checked with the roofing contractor, they learned they had used heat guns to seal the roofing membrane just that afternoon.
They estimate the damage to the roof at 25-hundred dollars.
