DETROIT (WKZO) — A Federal Judge has ruled that there is a difference between the New GM and the pre-bankruptcy GM and the current car maker is not be sued for damages caused by defective autos sold by the Old GM.
The ruling by Bankruptcy Judge Robert Gerber could shield GM from 7 to 10 billion dollars in possible liabilities.
Lawyers for potential litigants had argued that since faulty ignition switches were installed before the bankruptcy, but it was not revealed that they were defective until after, that the New GM should be held responsible.
The Judge disagreed.
