LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The polls say that Proposal 1 is going down to defeat in three weeks. Michigan Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley said Monday though that there is enough time to turn public opinion around on the road repair funding question. He said it’s not like a candidate election, people don’t decide, a year or six months out what they’re going to do as with proposals, it’s mostly in the last month or so that they really dig in and decide how they are going to vote.
Whether his political instincts are correct or not will be determined on May 5th. Pollster Bernie Porn with Epic MRA says we are in the last month, positions have hardened and all the polls agree that the ballot item is in critical condition. You never say never where voters are involved but he says it would take a miracle for the measure to pass.
