MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – A West Michigan man, Tom Hickman of Nunica and former athletic director for Spring Lakes Schools has been named Big Brother of the Year for the State of Michigan.
Hickman has been a Big Brother for 5 years and has dedicated countless hours to helping his Little reach his fullest potential. His mentoring has helped Jake make the honor roll and excel in sports.
Not only is Hickman being considered as one of two Big Brothers to be honored on a national level, but he is also up for nomination for the Governor’s Award too.
Locally Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore has served thousands of children, volunteers and families in Ottawa, Muskegon, Oceana and Mason counties, since 1969. It is the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network.
